Do you want to know about beautiful sea creatures? You’re in the right place.

Around the world, more than 91 percent of ocean species have yet to be classified by scientists. With so much mystery in the big blue ocean, it can be exciting to learn about all of the unique sea creatures.

For those looking for the best, check out this exclusive list of five of the most beautiful sea creatures to please your eyes.

Read on to learn more.

1. Tube-dwelling Anemones

Tube-dwelling anemones, also known as tube anemones, is a beautiful reef often found in aquatic habitats. It is distantly related to the original sea anemone.

Perhaps the most beautiful of the invertebrates, tube anemones are comprised of two whorls of tentacles that can vary in colors of green, purple, pink, and red. This species is largely nocturnal and showcase their bright, florescent colors in actinic lighting.

2. Coconut Octopus

The coconut octopus can be found in shallow, coastal muddy waters in the Indo-West Pacific Ocean. This stunning species gets its name from its choice of habitat, making dens out of washed-up and hollowed out coconut shells on the seafloor.

It’s a small creature, just 3 inches long. As a member of Family Octopodidae and the Class Cephalopoda, coconut octopus enjoys feeding on a variety of crabs. They are famous for having bipedal capabilities, walking on just two limbs.

The female coconut octopus lay up to 100,000 eggs at one time!

3. Peacock Mantis Shrimp

One of the most beautiful sea creatures is the mantis shrimp. This brightly colored crustacean spends most of its time in soft sediments and coral reefs. This stunning ocean creature can have colors such as:

  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Turquoise
  • Green
  • Blue
  • Purple
  • White
  • Black

They are very powerful hunters and eat a wide variety of invertebrates and fish. The peacock mantis shrimp can vary in size from 1 to 30 centimeters in length. They are commonly found in the Mediterranean Sea and in certain regions of the Atlantic Ocean.

4. Leafy Seadragon

The Leafy Seadragon is a fish related to the seahorse. At first glance, it looks like a floating piece of seaweed. But those flowing, leaf-like protrusions are actually used to propel itself through the water.

This beautiful sea creature is one of the best animals in the ocean at camouflaging and are tricky to see if you don’t look close. They are found naturally in seaweed off of the south and east coast of Australia.

5. Christmas Tree Worm

The Christmas tree worm is a lovely ocean critter that live throughout tropical oceans around the world. They most often are found embedded in coral reefs and get their name from their attractive ornamental look.

Beautiful Sea Creatures

Sea creatures have always fascinated us throughout time. Big, small, friendly, or dangerous, beautiful sea creatures will be sure to mesmerize you. Be sure to show off this list to all your friends and family!
