Ever need a vacation so bad every day is a struggle and when you look in the mirror all you do is look away to avoid seeing the lines getting deeper and bags darker? Yes, that was me in July and so I decided it was time to book a last minute all inclusive vacation. While this sounds like an easy process – it is not. I am not the “all-inclusive” type as I’d rather rent a car and explore my choice vacation spot. However, I knew I needed ultimate rest and these types of vacations certainly do the job of that. I researched every web site looking for the best deals with the best value. Let it be known, I’m a little picky… I do enjoy the finer things in life…
I have been in serious deprivation any sort of splurging since starting View the Vibe so I felt this vacation was a well-deserved one. I ended up settling on Aruba or Bahamas since the flight is only 3hrs – the faster I get to the beach the better. Then after looking at a ton of resorts I settled on Sandals in Nassau. A little pricier than the rest but I felt my taste would be accommodated. Of course, the excitement got the better of me and I tweeted. Well this tweet was immediately answered by the Sandals Group and next thing you know, our vacation became the best vacation I’ve experienced in a long time.
Fast-forward two weeks to our arrival at Nassau International Airport. We get our luggage and make our way to the Sandals desk expecting to take the bus to the resort. Instead, a shiny off-white Mercedes with gold tinted windows is there to greet us. Ummm, is this for us? My boyfriend leans over and whispers “shhhh… maybe they screwed up – just go with it.” If anyone knows me, I suck at keeping my mouth shut – I’m the type to tell them they made a mistake… but this time, I listened to the boyfriend. However, he was wrong – they didn’t screw up and the car was actually for us. Sandals had upgraded us to an ocean view premium room with full butler service because of View the Vibe – suddenly the last 2 years of blood, sweat and tears paid off!
We arrived at the Royal Bahamian Sandals Resort and I was blown away. Beautiful grounds, incredibly friendly staff, two huge pools, fire pits and lounge chairs everywhere, ten restaurants, a stunning beach, a private island and the best part? No kids! Don’t get me wrong, I love kids and hope to have a couple one day, but on vacation, there’s nothing better than an adults only resort! Our butler (Dylan – one of three) took us to our room and I was wowed – center room on the 4th floor with a large balcony, overlooking the ocean. Dylan shows me our line-up for the week: reservations at six of the ten restaurants plus a beautiful private dinner on the beach and a private cooking lesson by Banquet Chef Jamal Petty who also hosts a weekly television cooking show. I was a little overwhelmed but also very excited to get started!
Here are some highlights of our trip – we split the vlog into two parts given the length of the trip…. Check Part 2 of our Bahamas trip for our eating adventures and a full review the resort and food. Until then, visit www.Sandals.com.
