Have you ever passed by a restaurant and thought: should I f*cking eat here? Well, we’re going to tell it like it is with a little help from the City of Toronto. Every Monday, we’ll be highlighting a slew of restaurants that failed to pass the city’s food inspection. Stay hungry, my friends.

Sometimes we write this and think, “wow, we’ll never go there again.” Other times, our hearts are absolutely broken! We’re all yellow this week, but some restos cut it close with crucials.

Old School (800 Dundas St. West)
Ick Factor: 7/10

It pains our brunching hearts to see this! Why, Old School, why?! You’re tied for the most infractions on this list and one of them is crucial. You’ve broke our trust and now we might just have to get our sky-high, heart attack inducing pancakes and bacon elsewhere.

Inspection Date: June 17, 2016
Inspection Result: Yellow (Conditional Pass)
Number of Infractions: 6 (2 minor, 3 significant, 1 crucial)
Crucial Infractions: Operator fail to maintain hazardous food(s) at 4C (40F) or colder.

Starbucks (4926 Bathurst St.)
Ick Factor: 7/10

Hey Starbucks, for a multi-billion dollar chain, we expect way more from you! You may have gotten away with a conditional pass but we won’t forget that you failed to provide adequate pest control at your Bathurst and Finch location…

Inspection Date: June 16, 2016
Inspection Result: Yellow (Conditional Pass)
Number of Infractions: 2 (2 significant)
Crucial Infractions: 0

The Parkdale Drink (1292 Queen St. West)
Ick Factor: 6/10

Over the past few years, Parkdale has really cleaned up but it looks like Parkdale Drink got left behind in the process. Operator fail to provide proper garbage containers, fail to sanitize garbage containers as required and fail to properly wash surfaces in rooms all made their list of infractions.

Inspection Date: June 17, 2016
Inspection Result: Yellow (Conditional Pass)
Number of Infractions: 6 (3 minor, 3 significant)
Crucial Infractions: 0

Marcello’s Market & Deli (145 King St. West)
Ick Factor: 7/10

Come on, Marcello! You’ve gotta learn how to keep things hot and cold for you customers, especially if you’re going to be serving up food buffet style. We love that you’re quick n’ easy but your food’s not convenient when it’s quick n’ easy to get food poisoning!

Inspection Date: June 16, 2016
Inspection Result: Yellow (Conditional Pass)
Number of Infractions: 4 (1 significant, 1 minor, 2 crucial)
Crucial Infractions: Operator fail to maintain hazardous food(s) at 4C (40F) or colder, Operator fail to maintain hazardous foods at 60C (140F) or hotter

Holy Oak Cafe (1241 Bloor St. West)
Ick Factor: 5/10

Holy (sm)Oak(s), this Bloor St. West cafe by day and bar by night is getting away with a slap on the wrist for four infractions. We like their cozy, laid back vibe, we just think they’re a little too laid back when it comes to sanitation.

Inspection Date: June 17, 2016
Inspection Result: Yellow (Conditional Pass)
Number of Infractions: 4 (2 significant, 2 minor)
Crucial Infractions: 0
