Last night, Toronto streets were filled with screaming teens, gathered to catch a glimpse at the International and Canadian artists in town to celebrate the Much Music Video Awards. While International stars were well represented, one hometown hero managed to clean up especially well.
Hometown hero Drake had a massive 2016, and it’s clear that the Much Music Video Awards selection panel agrees. The Canadian rapper swept up the MMVAs, taking home five trophies for his “Hotline Bling” music video.
Although Drizzy wasn’t event present at the event, he also took home the awards for Video of the Year, Best Hip-Hop video, Best Director win for Director X and the highly-coveted, Most Buzzworthy Canadian Award.
While he missed the event, it just goes to show the impact that Drake has on the Canadian music industry and hip-hop industry as a whole.
