Light Up the Laneways: Ossington Visioning Workshop & Fundraiser
July 5, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Donations AcceptedJoin us for Light Up the Laneways. Lighting is essential to the character, usability and around-the-clock safety of Toronto’s laneways. Currently, lighting in our laneways is designed only for vehicles and does not meet the needs of pedestrians and cyclists. But together we can change that!
About The Project
Light Up the Laneways is a demonstration project. It will set a precedent for the privately-led provision of pedestrian-friendly laneway lighting in Toronto. The project will add shielded LED lighting fixtures to the existing vehicular-focused lighting. It is located in the two demonstration laneways in Ossington and Bloordale. Which is already heavily used by pedestrians. This transforms them into safe, vibrant and appealing public places. It is supported by local BIAs, CAs, Councillors, Toronto Hydro, and the leadership of relevant City divisions.
But we need your help to make it happen!
We hope that you’ll join us for a visioning workshop and fundraiser for the project at our Ossington site (look out for a Bloordale workshop in August!). Expect food, drink, music, mural painting, idea boards. There’s also laneway walks to identify where we should be placing the new light fixtures!
NOTE: This is a free visioning session; however, project donations via tickets are welcome.
