Renowned Vocalist Aynur Dogan at the Aga Khan Museum

    September 20, 2018 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

    $50
    Aynur Dogan

Opening the Aga Khan Museum’s fall performing arts series with a soulful performance is Kurdish vocalist Aynur Dogan. Dogan blends Kurdish folk with Western music. All while interpreting a traditional repertoire in a modern way.

She is renowned for boldly presenting traditional Kurdish folk songs with lyrics about the life and sufferings of Kurdish people. Especially that of Kurdish women in particular. Aynur’s voice is described as “unforgettable” by Yo-Yo Ma. Exiled from Turkey due to her outspokenness on Kurdish issues, Aynur Dogan knows what it means to take risks for her art.

    The Other Side of Fear

The fall performing arts season at the Aga Khan Museum explores the definition of fear. What it means to face fear and how we attempt to define, confront and conquer fear in ourselves and others.
