In the city of Brisbane Australia, there’s a young male artist by the name of Jordan Rakei that’s creating some buzz in the music scene. For his young age, Rakei’s music must be revealing his old soul. His first EP ‘Franklin’s Room’ released last September introduced a true artist creating simplistic songs with heavy influence of R&B, soul with light touches of reggae. Considering Rakei is so fresh on the scene, finding out information on him and his career wasn’t easy, but finding out one of his musical influences is D’Angelo was no surprise. Let that give you an idea of the vibe you can get when listening to Jordan Rakei.
Earlier this month, he released his second EP ‘Groove Curse’ and if this is any sign of what’s to come from a full length and future albums, I highly suggest taking some time to listen. From what I can see online, Rakei has a huge role in the song making process from songwriting to mixing, these EPs are a work of art. It’s mellow with soft and sexy vocals. Imagine yourself at a dimly-lit jazz club with an amazing singer subtly jamming with the band while he plays the piano. ‘Groove Curse’ is a nice soundtrack to a comfortable day inside, which is perfect for the upcoming seasons. No time soon is Jordan Rakei touring in North America, so make yourself a fan now by listening to both ‘Franklin’s Room’ and ‘Groove Curse’ on Bandcamp. Like him on Facebook and follow him on Twitter for all news and updates.
