Get your wax on this summer at some of our top spots in the 6ix. Vv Magazine’s Sarah Harris rounds up the salons and wax bars you need to know.
Getting waxed isn’t necessarily something we love doing, but it’s definitely something we have to do. As summer is in full swing, there’s nothing more anxiety-inducing than a pending date with a pool, if you know what we mean.
Fortunately, we’re in the know on a few good spots to get a serious groom. If you’re just looking for a regular brow upkeep, a full leg wax or even that Brazilian, fear not, we have you covered.
Get stripped, waxed and oh so clean for your next long weekend cottage staycation. It’s time to check out our top spots that say goodbye to your unwanted hair.
Who: Waxon Waxbar
Where: There are several great locations all over the city, but our top spot is their Summerhill location. 1242 Yonge St, Toronto
Why: Founder Lexi Miles created a waxing studio that has all of our basic needs down to a science. Their signature bar tab ensures that you can get your wax on the regular sans wallet. And their body scrubs and oils line their bright yellow walls, making your next wax extraordinary. Additionally, their rather luxe body services extend to both men and women, with menu items targeted to your need. From brow touch-ups to your below the belt quick fixes, say hello to your new best friend.
Who: Fuzz Wax Bar
Where: Again, Fuzz Waxbar has several great locations across Toronto, but we’re huge fans of their Queen West post. 701 Queen St W, Toronto
Why: Fuzz Waxbar specializes in removing all of your fuzz, relatively pain-free. With freezing balms at the ready and waxes that go on as comfortably as Crocs, you seriously can’t go wrong. If you’re looking for a thorough bikini wax, or their signature ‘Vajacial’ to get everything in order, you’ve come to the right place. Additionally, if you’re a regular at their spot, start a membership with them to save money and time on your next trip.
Who: Naked Beauty Bar
Where: 889 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M6J1V9
Why: If you’re looking to get your nails and wax on, make sure to check out this favourite spot of ours. Nothing feels better than having your nails and waxing done in one stop, and we’re currently loving this relatively affordable Toronto staple. The most expensive treatment they have will only set you back $45, so you can leave feeling like your most pampered self sans filing for bankruptcy. Come for an upper lip treatment, and leave with a pedicure to boot.
Where: Again, Civello has several great locations, but we’re fans of their bohemian Rosedale spot. 887 Yonge St, Toronto
Why: If Civello is good at anything, it’s making their loyal legion of customers look and feel amazing. If you’re after a custom cut or a more natural wax, you’ve come to the right place. Their waxing menu boasts a variety of services that will cater to your every whim, and their Natural Plant Wax Program incorporates natural waxes for a more holistic approach to hair removal. If you want a more spa-like feel for your next brow groom, make sure to book a spot at this Toronto beauty hub.
