Last month Via Mercanti 2.0 opened its doors making pizza lovers all over Toronto smile just a little more. Having been opened in Kensington Market for just under two years, this Napoli style pizza brought to us by the Salerno born Romola Salvati truly has people calling his the best pizza in the city. A couple of weeks ago I stopped into the new Elm Street location (just east of University) to check out the new space located in a beautiful heritage building. First thing that caught my eye is the huge patio, which, come summer we all know will be chock-full of pizza loving downtowners. The inside is divided into three rooms that are simple yet cozy and filled with antique furnishings, Italian art and brick walls that add to the authenticity of this Napoli style restaurant.
The Elm Street menu is not much different from the Kensington Street menu, but does offer a few new appetizers as well as a fabulous $10 daily lunch special that includes pizzas, paninis and more delicious Neopolitan delicacies. Check out my tour of the new Elm Street location and the delicious pizza Romolo made for us – I guarantee instant hunger will set in!
