The Emmys, aka the Oscars of television (is that okay to say?), were last night and, naturally, TV’s leading ladies pulled all the punches when it came to their outfits. From Modern Family’s resident spicy Cover Girl, Sofia Vergera, to House of Cards’ ice-queen Robin Wright, the night was a circus of fashion, fashion, and more fashion. Trends spotted this year: reds, particularly this fall’s golden child, burgundy; all-black everything; mermaid gowns galore; hard and metallic mini-clutches; and body-contour abound. If you didn’t get a chance to catch the red carpet (and even if you did), here is a list of our favourites from the evening…
Sofia Vergara
The highest paid actress on television and Modern Family break-out superstar, Sofia Vergara, was smoking hot in this curve-hugging red Vera Wang mermaid gown with lace detailing that totally blew all of the competition out of the water.
Kerry Washington
The star of Scandal was recently voted the Best Dressed Woman of 2013 by People Magazine and it has been of huge debate as to whether she lived up to the title or dropped the ball last night at The Emmys. Personally, we think one can never go wrong with Marchesa and that Ms. Washington looked absolutely radiant in her white and blush number by the NYC design house. Don’t worry Kerry, as a great philosopher once said, “Haters gonna hate.”

Malin Akerman
Malin Akerman also rocked the mermaid dress trend, opting for an icy grey piece by Marchesa and accessorizing with Jimmy Choo pumps and Neil jewelry.
Mindy Kaling
The comedic genius behind The Mindy Project, Mindy Kaling looked super sophisticated in this plum, body-hugging silk dress with heavy collar detailing from Edition by Georges Chakra. Her uber-trendy metallic clutch is by Jerome C. Rousseau.
Heidi Klum
Project Runway’s Heidi Klum once again proved that she is television’s reigning queen of fashion in this sequined high-collar halter dress from Atelier Versace.

Lena Headey
Game of Throne’s Lena Headey was turning heads with this fantastic high-fashion, high-slit Morticia Addams-esque lace and sheer dress, accessorized with white pumps.
Kaley Cuoco
The Big Bang Star was a huge hit last night with this gorgeous corseted Vera Wang gown, Jimmy Choo clutch and Neil Lane jewelry. Her secret under the gown? She’s wearing Aldo heels. Celebrities… they’re just like the rest of us.
Robin Wright
Robin Wright may not have won for her role in House of Cards but she certainly came out ahead on the red carpet. The former Mrs. Sean Penn tore up the step-and-repeat in this vampy black silk Ralph Lauren Collection evening gown.
