It was definitely a night to remember as stars in LA and Toronto Stood Up To Cancer and wowed audiences across North America. Celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, Halle Barry, Sofia Vergara and many more, stood up to cancer by participating in a Nationally televised commercial-free show to encourage audiences everywhere to raise money for Stand Up to Cancer, a non-profit charity that aims to raise significant funds for cancer research.
Check out the red carpet action we caught and hear why celebrities Stand Up To Cancer:
Airing on all major networks and cable channels in the US for the fourth time in six years, this year marks the first time Canada participates in the televised show also airing on all the major networks. To celebrate and join in on the live show, Stand Up To Cancer Canada hosted an event at Andrew Richard Designs and had quite an evening planned. Ben Stiller, Jason Priestly, Lyriq Bent, Nikki Yanofsky and many more walked the very hot red carpet into a cool room full of TVs and couches awaiting to be used. Once seated everyone was given specific instructions to 1) laugh at Ben Stiller’s jokes, who was to bring the room into the televised show through a live feed and banter with Canadian actor, Mike Myers 2) Turn off cell phones and 3) Don’t go to the bar during the live feed. The energy in the room was high and at 8pm on the dot, the show started.

Ten minutes into the show and six minutes away from the Canadian live feed, all eyes were glued to the TVs. Suddenly, lightening struck and the TVs went black. The room’s energy shifted from excitement to disappointment as the live feed was gone and there was no more show. How could this happen?
Well when mother nature strikes, us Canadians don’t let it stop us (we’re used to her!). All the famous faces used their talents to keep the show going as guests laughed at funnyman Scott Thompson’s jokes, danced to Nikki Yanofsky’s tremendous voice, listened to the beautiful melodies of Rufus Wainwright and mingled with Ben Stiller, Jason Priestly and the many famous faces in the room. On the other side of the continent, Mike Myers made the best of the situation by joking that something like this always happens when he does live appearances. Should we then blame Mike for the lightening??
Joking aside, the fourth Stand Up To Cancer show was a huge hit and they hope to have raised over 100 million dollars – we will find out the exact amount soon.
An evening to remember, here is a look inside the unforgettable party.
