As we continue our journey through this summer’s fashion fundamentals, we arrive at the lower region where we shall no longer be hiding under long-johns and leggings. Bring on the skirts, the dresses and the shorts (and remember to account for the extra 10 minutes in the shower for essential defuzzing) because it is time to get leggy, ladies!
The Long and Short of It
I’m sure we can all agree that as much as we love the whole fashion thing, not everything that is on-trend will always feel good on-body. So when fashion comes with some level of comfort, well that is something worth tweeting about. This year the good old Bermuda short is back! Not too short, not too long; easy to dress down, fabulous to dress up. And you can still have lots of fun with it by choosing bold colours and prints or something more down the monochromatic road to keep it classic. And of course, denim is always a winner.
The tailored short is, of course, another style that can oh-so-easily work for a multitude of occasions and is a key piece to mix-and-match with existing items in your closet. This season we’re loving the high-waist trend. Pair with a simple plain tee and flat metallic sandals for a perfect day time look. Add some cat-eye shades and change your name to Audrey because you nailed it.
Feeling Dressy
Dresses are too much fun this summer with florals and stripes and prints, oh my! And who doesn’t appreciate a dress that can easily transfer from the AM to the PM? Slap on a pair of flip-flops and some lip-gloss for a bubbly brunch date or vamp it up when the sun goes down with a few key pieces of statement jewellery and a bright lip.
