Donna-Lee Langton truly gets what makes Canada so special. As the founder of Langton Communications Inc., she splits her time between Toronto and Vancouver, equally enjoying the perks of West Coast life and the hustle and bustle of Toronto’s ever-growing urban landscape. There’s nothing more patriotic than appreciating what makes all of our uniquely diverse and geographically spread-out country so awesome, and perhaps that’s why Langton is such an amazing PR maven. Representing clients in the fields like cookware, houseware, hair care, skincare, nail lacquers, salons and spas, she brings her PR savvy to everything she does whether she’s in Van City or the Big Smoke. We caught up with Langton to find out what she loves most about her ever-changing travel schedule and what she does in her off-time – whether she’s out west or in TO.
Tell us a bit about yourself. What should people know?
I’m not sure what anyone would even care to know about me. I love travel, entertaining, the outdoors, warm weather and although I hate being cold, ironically, skiing is one of my favourite sports. I live in two cities, Vancouver and Toronto, which is great and complicated at the same time. I was born and raised in Vancouver, but have lived full-time or part-time in Toronto for more than two decades. It gives me a pretty good perspective on both cities and I’m always defending, praising or complaining about one or the other.

What are the biggest challenges and best rewards about what you do?
I think that the challenges and rewards are tied together. Finding a truly fresh approach, developing and bringing that concept to life and achieving the desired objective can be a very demanding and equally exciting process. It’s its own reward. I’m lucky in that I love what I do and I have a great team to back me up.
What are three things you can’t live without?
Assuming this doesn’t include the people I love, I would have to say a good book, my mountain bike and my soaker tub.
Finish this sentence: I love Vancouver because…
…I’ve done my share of travelling and I’ve seen some spectacular places, but I have yet to find anywhere that tops the natural, breathtaking beauty of Vancouver. I also love the outdoors and living in Vancouver offers easy access to amazing skiing, biking, hiking, golfing, boating – and it’s possible to do them all year round. It’s also a city comprised of people who love to eat (we’re hungry after all that exercise) and the restaurants reflect that. Lastly, the pace. I split my time between Toronto and Vancouver and, while I love the buzz of Toronto, the more relaxed lifestyle that living on the coast offers provides some balance to my life.
What’s your favourite restaurant and why?
In Toronto it would be my long-time favourite, Lee, because every single dish is worth savouring. In Vancouver it would be Hawksworth. I love the ambiance and decor, the service is impeccable but still warm and friendly and the menu is always amazing. It takes me forever to decide what to have.
