On Saturday September 6th, the world of film and fashion collided, as Giorgio Armani premiered Films of City Frames, a series of short films built around frames of life. Launching this initiative with the help of Academy Award winning producer and director Edward Zwick (Glory, I Am Sam), the six short films were created by student filmmakers from various schools around the world. The students created short films featuring caught moments, landscapes and emotional situations using Armani’s Frames of Life glasses as a perceptual filter.
The six films were previewed at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts and were very well received. The filmmakers and Edward Zwick were present and shared their inspiration with the audience after. The schools participating included The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (Hong Kong), USC School of Cinematic Arts (Los Angeles), The National Film and Television School (London), NYU Tisch School of the Arts (New York), ESRA Ecole de Cinema (Paris) and Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia (Rome). All the short films are very different, some including humour, some more dramatic and some more modern. The films are available to view here.
To celebrate this film and fashion initiative, Armani and Zwick hosted a fantastic event at the CN Tower that brought out tons of celebrities including Jessica Chastain, Denzel Washington, Laura Dern, Elisha Cuthbert as well as Toronto’s most fashionable VIPs.
