Some obsess over boys, whereas I obsess over books. I can read through a book in a couple hours, in the same way one marathons the latest ‘it’ series on Netflix. Due to my insane lust over literature, I’ve been contacted by a bunch of the nation’s top publishing houses – including Harper Collins Canada, Penguin Canada, Random House Canada, and our top bookstore, Indigo – with the hottest new reads.
Seeing as my job is to advise others on their personal relationships, I’ve decided to pick my top beach reads this summer, dependent on where you’re currently at in your dating world. Like emulating a heroin in a book or a character on TV, these books will give you a clean and clear perspective and help you through whatever it is you’re going through. Happy reading!
For The Girl Who Is Considering An Affair
The Lemon Grove
This intoxicating book – by far my fave read of the summer – is about a family getaway that turns very, very naughty. Think: a modern day The Graduate, set in the most exotic of settings.
For The Girl In Her Twenty-Somethings
Virgin
From brazilian waxes (so hot right now) to hoping she can get a sexual virus to prove to her doctor that she isn’t a virgin (she is) this story centres around Ellie, a twenty-something virgin who is dying to give it up, or as she says, get her V-card punched. A girlfriend and her start a yin-and-yang raunchy blog, sharing their experiences with sex (her friend) and lack thereof (Ellie) in this hilarious book that is sadly way-to-relatable.
For The Lady Who Has Shamefully Stalked All Her Partners Current Exes Online
I Like You Just The Way I Am
This is the debut book by Jenny Molen, the hilarious wife of Jason Biggs. Her memoir will have you in shock and awe, for all the right reasons, and her crazy antics (especially when it comes to stalking Jason’s ex – who you too will stalk following this read) will have you feeling like you’re completely normal… That is, until you realize she’s your new girl crush and you find yourself reading her December 2013 tweets.
For The Dating Junkie
Drinking and Dating: How Social Media is Ruining Romance
This hilarious book, by Brandi Glanville from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, is a feisty look at all the men she’s bedded (and pursued) since the fallout of her public marriage to Eddie Cibrian. It’s an in-one-sitting read that is shamefully all too relatable and will have you packing an extra pair of panties for your next rendezvous.
For The Bachelor Obsessed
I Didn’t Come Here to Make Friends: Confessions of a Reality Show Villain
Roll our eyes though we might at the most dramatic TV show yet, millions eat up all things The Bachelor franchise has to offer. It’s no wonder, then, that Courtney Robertson, winner of Ben’s season, has a tell-all book that’s just as addictive as the show itself. If you watched her season, you won’t believe the tales she shares that happened off the camera, for better or for worse. At the end of this you’ll love to love the woman America loved to hate.
For the Girl Who’s Questioning Her Engagement
The Heiresses
A thriller by the same author as Pretty Little Liars, you’ll get sucked in on the first page as you read about New York’s most talked about family, the family curse, and the chilling secrets behind the heiresses’ pretty-little-faces splashed all across fashion/beauty/gossip mags alike.
