Calling all nerds! It’s been 6 months since Fan Expo, and I know you’re all fiending for a little comic convention action – I feel your pain. Well you’re in luck! The very same people behind Fan Expo are now bringing you Toronto ComicCon at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. From Friday, March 7th to Sunday, March 9th in the South Building of the Convention Centre, you can geek out to all your favourite comic book, sci fi, anime, and horror genre retailers. But wait, there’s more! (I bet you didn’t expect there to be more, right? But there is!) It wouldn’t be a Con without celebrity guests, and celebrity guests there are! It’s a pretty good roster, including some new stars, some old stars, and a few who aren’t stars at all! Read on for the pick of the litter…
Jon Heder
Watch out for this guy… he’s pretty good with a bo staff. Napoleon Dynamite himself is gracing us with his presence. I, for one, will be asking him to autograph my ‘Vote For Pedro’ shirt. How can you pass up the chance to ask him about Napoleon Dynamite 2: Electric Boogaloo? You can’t, that’s how.

Hobbits: Sean Astin and Billy Boyd
There will be not one, but two Hobbits at this year’s ComiCon. Sean Astin, known for playing Samwise Gamgee (Frodo’s faithful companion), and Billy Boyd, who played Pippin Took in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, will be stopping by to sign some autographs. For all you 80s kids out there, Astin also starred in The Goonies as Mikey. Now, if only Chunk and Sloth were making an appearance as well…
Giancarlo Esposito
Esposito is at the top of his game after a smashingly successful run as Gustavo Fring on Breaking Bad. His Emmy-nominated work on the show as the cold, calculating, Chilean drug boss enthralled audiences for several years; he is likely to be the top attraction at this year’s ComiCon.

Eliza Dushku
A regular on the convention scene, Dushku is known for her work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dollhouse, and also for being, like, super hot. She also had a large role in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back and is starring in an upcoming film about the life of Gregg Allman called Midnight Rider.
Tony Moore
Kentucky-born comic book artist Tony Moore illustrated the first six issues of the Walking Dead, and did the cover art for several issues after. These are now highly sought after collector’s items as the popularity of the comic, and the AMC TV show that it spawned, has absolutely skyrocketed. Talk zombies, westerns, and basically anything you want with this talented artist. You could even commission him to draw an original work. How about a drawing you as a ravenous zombie in search of brains…?
While it’s not the same size and scale of August’s Fan Expo, Toronto ComiCon and its amazing celebrity guests will definitely give you that convention fix you’ve been craving. Check it out March 7th to 9th.
