It’s rare (read: never) that you’ll find me at church – gargoyles hiss as I approach and I don’t care for their disposition. However, I am a true believer in the Dogma of Drink, so I made an exception to my rule when we heard Church, as in the Aperitivo Bar, was hosting a grand fete to commemorate their first year. Hallevodka!
The city’s tastemakers, socialites, fashionistas and VIPs (which, I suppose, are all synonymous) were out to revel and rejoice in the anniversary of this Queen West hotspot, renowned for its exceptional cocktails, Italian dishes, and aperitivo hours.
Mixologist Rob Dvorchik “Ordained” us with a mix of Moet, strawberry syrup and lemon juice, and then introduced us to “Adam and Eve” (brought to life in the form of Belvedere, ginger syrup and lime). Our tongues were tickled by Chef Fabio Sacca as we nibbled on hors d’oeuvres like rib-eye sliders, spiced shrimp, and tasty gnocco fritto with salami. Then we heard the call of the trumpet thanks to DJ Lucie Tic.
