We’ve already rounded up the best events to dole your drink dollars out for a good cause, but did you know that Toronto has food events where you can eat for a good cause, too?
Toronto Taste presented by The Daniels Corporation is an annual occurrence that brings together Toronto’s greatest chefs for an evening of culinary excellence. But what makes this evening different than any other food event is its philanthropic side; you can feel good about indulging in gourmet dishes and drinks from over 60 vendors because proceeds go towards Second Harvest.
For the past 26 years, Toronto Taste has raised funds to benefit those in need through Second Harvest, Canada’s largest food rescue program. It’s estimated that close to 370,000 people in Toronto alone don’t have enough to eat and last year alone, Toronto Taste raised enough money to provide 1.7 million meals to the hungry. Currently, Second Harvest delivers rescued food to over 225 social service agencies.
And this year on Sunday, June 4th, the culinary experience for a cause will return to Corus Quay, with Toronto’s lakefront as the backdrop. Included in the impressive chef roster are Steven Gonzalez of Baro, Rob Gentile of Buca, Hidde Zomer of Carbon Bar, Sylvain Assie of Cafe Boulud, Romain Avril of Lavelle, Michael Smith and more. But food isn’t all you’re getting at this one of a kind experience, guests will also have the opportunity to participate in raffles and a silent auction hosted by Bob Blumer, and watch chefs compete in a mystery box challenge.
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend and give back to the community while you’re at it, grab your last minute ticket for $260 (with $150 tax receipt) here.
