Fishbar on Ossington recently celebrated their 1-year anniversary and I personally am thrilled that they have become the staple seafood tapas bar on this very trendy culinary Toronto strip. A small yet very versatile menu, it satisfies most diners’ tastes – even those who don’t love seafood! Last week, I asked Andrew Dobson to join Sam and myself for dinner as he had never been. Why had the man that has eaten everywhere never been? Not a seafood fan…
Personally I love Fishbar – always have and Sam has made it one of her favourites in Toronto. That said, neither one of us had been in a couple of seasons so we were due for our fix. I, of course, had to indulge in the octopussy martini which I had for the first time the month they opened – watch my blushing face here… I love that martini – the oyster adds just enough sea to the taste and makes you feel like you might be sitting oceanside. Sadly, the weather wasn’t cooperating with the martini. I got over it when the oysters and peel n’ eat shrimp arrived to the table – just honestly great fresh shellfish. Can’t get better than that.
Then the feast began… all of which I would say Andrew quite enjoyed and we loved. Everything was original and delicious with flavours that spun our taste buds into a tizzy. Fishbar is truly one of those gems that you just need to take for a test drive. Don’t believe me? Watch the vlog below…
++ Check out the first vlog we did at Fishbar when the opened summer 2011. Such memories!
