With the weather changing and slightly chillier temps upon us, it’s easy to fall victim to a 24-hour bug (trust us, we’ve already been there). What better a way to stave off sickness than by adding a kick of healthy juice to your daily diet.
Luckily for us Vancouverites, there’s a handful of juice spots to head to when you start to feel run down, and we’ve got the low-down on a few of our top picks below.
Krokodile Pear
Krokodile Pear Juice Bar offers up a great selection of cold pressed organic juices at its west side location (1867 W 1st Avenue), with a second location slated to open in Yaletown. Featuring organic juices that are stored on tap, choose from about a dozen items (including smoothies). The price tag might be a bit higher, but that’s only because they are able to pre-press juices in smaller batches in advance, maintaining optimal freshness and ensuring the ability to customize all orders accordingly.
Sejuiced Vancouver
Sejuiced has been around for ages and is arguably the city’s original juice bar (located at 1958 W 4th Avenue). They feature a menu packed with goodies – smoothies, powershakes, freshly squeezed juices, and other organic and local healthy fare to compliment. Given its location directly across from YYoga, we imagine it’s the perfect spot to hit post-power class for a pick-me-up.
Mother’s Smoothies
Mother’s Smoothies and Juice Bar is located on the North Shore but worth the drive. Pop by their 134 East 14th Street location (off Lonsdale) and indulge in one of 10 different fresh cold pressed juices – reasonably priced and with fun names like Puppy Love, Back Down South, and Stolen Dance). To add to the juice options, they also feature a healthy dose of smoothies and fresh cut wheatgrass shots to keep you feeling energetic enough to tackle a trek along one of the nearby trails.
The Juice Truck
Another great option for sourcing your cold-fighting elixirs is at The Juice Truck’s new standalone store. Given the popularity of their four-wheeled business, they were smart in securing a bricks-and-mortar space at 28 W 5th Avenue on the West Side. Featuring a variety of fresh, cold pressed juice (with seven constants on the menu), as well as smoothies and healthy eats (try their almost sushi and coconut chia parfait), they also offer take-away cleanses to help keep your system healthy.
Heirloom Restaurant
Though Heirloom Juice Bar has yet to officially open, we might as well put it on your radar as “coming soon,” and it’s from the owners of the deliciously-good Heirloom Vegetarian Restaurant. If you’re already a fan of the menu at their popular vegetarian spot, you’ll want to pay a visit to the new juice bar (find your fix at 2861 Granville Street) when it finally opens.
