We’re nearly half way into January and well into a new year full of resolutions… Whether yours are to get out and explore more of our city, up your fitness, or spend more time staying local, Vancouver offers plenty of ways to do just that. This weekend’s crop of offerings is the perfect place to start.
Winter Farmers Market
The Winter Farmers Market is where you want to head on Saturday if you’re looking to kick-start some clean eating for 2015. Located out by Nat Bailey Stadium, you’ll find hundreds of local vendors on hand with freshly-picked, baked, or brewed goods. So, take advantage of a lazy day and stroll your way through and stock up on items from The Farmhouse Natural Cheeses, Sawmill Bay Shellfish Company, Handworks Coffee Studio, Fable Naturals, and more.
No Pants SkyTrain Ride Vancouver 2015
Dare to bare it all this weekend and participate in the official No Pants Skytrain Ride Vancouver 2015. Let it hang loose and show up to celebrate this 6th annual event organized by the Vancouver Improv Anywhere group to echo similar events hosted around the world. Oh, and there’s a pants-free after-party taking place post-ride… it could get a little R-rated, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Wedding Fair
If wedding bells are in your future, take note: there are several wedding shows taking place this weekend that you need to know about. Check out the 38th Annual Wedding Fair over at the Westin Bayshore where you’ll find well over 150 of BC’s top wedding pros on hand to help you plan your special day. Alternatively, check out the My Dream Wedding Show taking place at the Fraser Valley Ramada Plaza and Conference Centre and let the pampering begin.
Golden Globes At The Rio Theatre
Sunday, it’s all about the Golden Globes. If you’re not hunkering down with a big bowl of popcorn at home, grab some friends and make your way out to a real theatre like the Rio where you can catch a free live broadcast of the big event on the silver screen. Doors open at 3:30pm, they’ve got a licensed bar, plenty of tasty bites, and fun contests running throughout the night.
UBC Writing Centre’s Annual Book Sale
Stock up on some good reads and be sure to hop over to the UBC Writing Centre’s Annual Book Sale where you’ll score some great finds. They’ll have thousands of gently-used academic and non-academic books of all genres at a steal of a deal – the perfect way to jump-start your ‘must expand mind’ resolution.
