There are certain beauty products that I will always remain faithful to (NARS blush in Orgasm, and MAC Select MoistureCover concealer, to name a couple). But when it comes to lipsticks and glosses, I can never stick to just one. I’ve got pretty much every brand, colour, formula you can think of, and I’m constantly adding more to my never-ending collection. Because let’s be honest, ladies — somehow, lipstick can just seem to brighten up even the worst of days.
There are a ton of new formulations out on the market this season, but these three have managed to secure a special place in my heart (and purse!). Here are 3 new lipsticks and lipglosses that are worth trying:
Maybelline Color Elixir by Color Sensational, $10.99
When I first heard about Maybelline’s Color Elixir, I couldn’t wait to try it out. This “liquid colour balm” delivers the rich colour of a lipstick, the glass shine of a gloss, and the cushiony care of a balm all in one, beautifully packaged product. The result? Bold, in-your-face lip colour that is sure to make a statement.
Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede Lipstick, $11.99
There’s something so modern and cool-looking about a matte lip — when done correctly. Let’s just say I know firsthand that dry lips + matte lipstick = disaster. Luckily, Revlon’s new Ultimate Suede Lipstick contains aloe and shea butter for velvety soft moisture, so you don’t have to worry about flaky lips. And with lasting, all-day colour (and “food-proof wear”), you can even dare to leave your lipstick at home. Shocking, I know.
Marc Jaobs Beauty LOVEMARC Lip Gel, $36
As much as I love Marc Jacobs, I was really apprehensive about trying out his beauty collection. Would it just be a designer trying to make more cash by tapping into the beauty industry, or would his products actually deliver? Well, let’s just say the latter is true, at least when it comes to this lipstick. Since it is made from a gel formula as opposed to the traditional waxy lipsticks, this product glides on effortlessly and provides all-day colour and hydration. Because of its lightweight consistency the colour seems to just melt onto your lips, and provides a comfortable, creamy (not sticky) wear. Though it is a much heftier price tag, it is definitely worth the splurge.
