This Queer+POC-lead badass alternative indie-rock group (if I had to put their sound into a genre) is redefining the Toronto music scene. The 5 members of Cutsleeve are stomping on stereotypes as they cover topics such as self-identity exploration and the racial fetishization and objectification that East-Asian women are subjected to. Plus they’re doing it with a sound that will have you shouting the lyrics right along with them. Check out their latest EP The Parts We Could Not Abandon on Spotify and Apple Music.
This 3-female band describes themselves as “art pop with a punk heart” and it becomes apparent what they mean by this when you listen to a few of their tunes. Tange’s songs are full of poetry but have an easy, freewheeling quality to them. Each member of the band takes their turn with the vocals, resulting in a sound that flows naturally but keeps you on your toes. Find their music on
