The Candy Bar
If you thought all Little Italy had to offer was great pasta and Italian desserts, think again because over by Ossington, you’ll find The Candy Bar. This candy shop is satisfying customers’ sweet tooth by the dozen with the wide selection of bulk candy, international imports, fine chocolate, and even sugar-free, vegan, gluten-free, and healthier options.
It’s a pretty safe bet that you’ll be able to find nearly every candy imaginable at Sweet Thrills. The shop, located on Roncy, first opened in 1998 and it’s packed with sweets, a bustling bulk section, imported candies, but also a well-stocked British section, and so much more. If you’re in the mood to make it a game night, Sweet Thrills also has a great selection of board games as well as greeting cards and other novelty items.
Situated on Yonge Street near Lawrence is Pappabubble and if the name sounds familiar, it’s because you probably recognize it as the store that has multiple locations around North America, Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. The chain started in Barcelona back in 2004 and all the candy is handmade right in the shop and customers can even watch the entire process from the start. You’ll find pretty much ever flavour imaginable like green apple, fruit punch, pomegranate, and so many more!
Once a fixture on the TO candy scene, Sugar Mountain now only has one store in the GTA and it’s located in Vaughan. However it’s well-worth the drive up there because the shop is filled with all the candies and sweets you know and love. In addition to the well-stocked bulk section, Sugar Mountain also houses a selection of British imports, domestic favourites, Mexican candies, and a fun merchandise collection.
While there isn’t a standalone Sugarfina store here in TO, you can find the gourmet candies at Nordstrom locations at Yorkdale and The Eaton Centre. These gourmet candies are almost too pretty to eat but with flavours like Tequila Grapefruit, Pumpkin Pie Caramel, Peach Bellini, and more, we suspect you’ll hardly make it home without sampling a few.
Another notable candy store without a standalone location but is well worth mentioning is Squish. This proudly Canadian company has retail kiosks at Hudson’s Bay but can also be found in a variety of other retailers across the country. Unlike most candy brands, Squish has a vegan selection so everyone, regardless of diet, can enjoy a sweet treat.
Even though Bulk Barn isn’t exactly a candy store per se, the bulk retailer certainly deserves a spot on this list. No matter what type of candy or chocolate confection you’re looking for, it’s likely you can find it here. The candy selection is pristine and you can even score some treats we loved as kids like Fun Dip, Nerds, and so much more.
