Despite the complaints that the older generation has about social media and how superficial it can be sometimes, there are a few key people who have turned their social media accounts into a source of happiness and support for many people who don’t think anyone else understands. Truly successful social media influencers are responsible for uplifting their followers, providing information relevant to their niche and even reviewing and marketing products to support local and international businesses. In short, these individuals have become a vital part of the consumer experience for many and this is why Canada’s list of top influencers continues to grow within their respective fields.

Gaming and Technology Influencers

The gaming and technology industries often receive a large number of searches according to SEO statistics. This is likely because many people are keen to try new products and services but would first like to conduct research to ensure that they are getting the most out of the experience at hand. This is where the younger generation of consumers will consult the internet and social media to view honest reviews on anything technological and gaming-based, from the newest gadget to the most popular CA casinos. Businesses that have discovered the impressive potential of influencer marketing have approached well-known social media personalities, such as ImaneAnys, or Pokimane, and Linus Tech Tips. These gaming and technology gurus are sometimes approached by large corporations or send PR packages to expose the masses to the newest gadget or game on the market. Also, influencers tend to give their honest opinion to followers, making them a trusted resource for the average consumer while relaying complex technological terms in simplified language that their followers and subscribers love.

Lifestyle Influencers

While not all influencers are celebrities, there are a few who live noteworthy lives. This does not mean that they are spending copious amounts of money but these influencers have made it their mission to provide cultural education to their followers. The lifestyle genre is huge and can include sustainable living, fashion and interior design. One of Canada’s most prominent lifestyle bloggers, AniaBoniecka, is a Toronto-based fashionista. However, in recent years, her humble fashion advice blog has expanded to include finance, technology, fitness and even home décor. The blog and social media accounts have become so large that Ania has sought out the assistance of a professional photographer to help her manage the content and provide useful tips.

Another great example of a lifestyle influencer is Miko Wang, who also doubles over as a travel influencer. Miko Wang lives in Vancouver, BC and is a bi-lingual flight attendant. Miko has taken to documenting her travels overseas on YouTube and Instagram in both Mandarin and English. Miko has taken her followers with her to Korea, New Zealand, Melbourne and many more and shows viewers all the local sights and attractions of each region.

Fitness and Health Influencers

It’s no secret that many people from all over the world are looking to prolong their lives. This is likely why so many people have started following Fitness and Health influencers. These influencers share vital tips to average people who are looking to improve their overall health and hold onto their vitality for as long as possible. Justin Yang is a Vancouver-based physical wellness guru. Those who follow his Instagram page are likely to come across motivational posts, mini-workouts and tips to decrease body aches and pains and increase overall mobility.

Beverley Cheng is another popular fitness and health influencer who is based in Toronto, Ontario. She is a fitness coach and creator of Born to Sweat which is one of the many fitness clubs in Canada. Beverley completes her goal of teaching Canadian women to love their bodies through the power of intense workouts and healthy living. Those who follow her Instagram will find loads of fitness tutorials, workouts, tips and body-positive comments and messages which encourage Cheng’s followers to love their bodies and whip them into shape.

Art Influencers

Art is defined as an expression of self in a crazy world. To express themselves through this traditional medium, artists have incorporated social media. Thus, art influencers were born. Hana Shafi is one of the most prominent art influencers in Canada right now and it’s not just for her beautiful pieces. Hana was born in Dubai and is now based in Toronto. The Dubai-born artist teaches valuable lessons about self-acceptance and self-love through her art while addressing serious issues such as body politics. Hana has defined herself as an artist, writer and activist and has successfully authored and released two books that have positively tackled real life issues.

While we have listed several Canadian influencers, according to their respective niches, above, social media is rapidly expanding. This means that a new influencer appears on the radar almost every day. With that being said, these influencers have prompted many Canadians to dig deep and live better lives.
