Ah yes, just another day in The 6ix when we come across things like a giant inflatable objects in a Toronto neighbourhood. After all, it’s not a one-time occurrence in our city. This time though, it’s part of the Canadian Tire Summer of the Century Celebration. The company is celebrating its 100th birthday this week. In line with the occasion, Canadian Tire is hosting the special event during the Canada Day long weekend.
Giant floaties at a Toronto neighbourhood
Almost 50 homes are going to have up to 15-foot-tall inflatable animals. Some of the ones you can expect include flamingoes, dinosaurs, cows and unicorns. There will also be floaties of pineapples, palm trees and fluorescent pinwheels. The activation is free to check out and attend, giving the opportunity to click some shots from the ‘gram.
It will be running from June 30 to July 3 at the Bastedo Avenue neighbourhood, located at Danforth and Coxwell.
But that’s not the exciting thing being put up by the company. The event is also set to have art activities, live music and other free entertainment options. Once the Summer of the Century party comes to an end, the inflatable structures will either be donated to the Bastedo Avenue residents or repurposed.
So if you were looking to add another celebration to your Canada Day list, this is definitely one. There are various other things going down in the 6ix as well for the occasion. This includes free visits to the ROM, fireworks, concerts and free movies.
