Over the past two months I have been completing private virtual yoga classes with my instructor Katya from Power by Katya. Due to the pandemic, the classes have been completed over Zoom. Katya is at her home instructing and guiding me through the personalized class, which I complete on my yoga mat at my own condo. It’s unfortunate that we’re unable to practice at an in-person studio but the restrictions have brought forth a new found appreciation for online classes! So, here’s a rundown of my experience practicing virtually and I’ll start by saying: it’s a hit!

Convenience
The convenience of completing the class from home and the personalization of the class due to its one-on-one private aspect are two features that make this experience unparalleled.

I appreciate this class format because there is no prep or travel time required. I also appreciate that without any other classmates, I have no opportunity to unintentionally compare myself to other’s progress.
Personalization
Through these classes, Katya gets to know my individual journey with yoga as well as any applicable personal aspects of my life I am willing to share. At the beginning of each class, Katya asks me what is going on in my life and what I would like to focus on. This week I told Katya I was feeling very bloated from a busy weekend of patios, and she was able to guide me through a class that was entirely customized to my immediate needs and helped me feel buoyant and lightweight. At the end of each class I feel at ease, strong, and renewed.
