Try as we might, it’s near impossible for us to keep up-to-date on our eating and treating around the city. The past few weeks have seen a slew of new restaurants popping up that are crying out, “Come and eat me!” (We’re trying, guys, we’re trying.) While we’ve stuffed our faces at more than our fair share of new kids on the block, here are three recently opened restaurants we’re dying to try (and, obviously, our reasons why)…
Brussels Bistro
Okay, we rarely get a chance to head over to the Beaches (for shame, we know). But after hearing about Trinity Greek Taverna’s arrival, we decided that needs to change. Then we saw Toronto Life‘s Introducing post about Brussels Bistro, and we’ve already got our dates planned for later this week. Brussels Bistro combines the best of French and Belgian cuisine in a homey space, so we already love the concept. The fact we can get garlic butter snails in puff pastry simply seals the deal.
Geraldine
We sampled a bit of Chef Peter Ramsay’s cuisine at Abbey’s Kitchen Stadium, and our tastebuds were immediately tantalized. The new restaurant opened up but a few days ago, and according to Post City is serving up some killer turn-of-the-century fare. We’re not 100 per cent sure what that means, but we’ll trek out to the West End to find out soon enough.
Lot Street
Another ode to day’s gone by a la Geraldine, Lot St. gets its name from Queen West’s 18th century moniker (according to the most “reliable” online source, Wikipedia, naturally). It’s close to our office, which is a total bonus and means we may have a new fave after-work drinks joint. According to the restaurant’s Facebook, its cuisine celebrates our diverse Canadian culture. So, really, it’s our patriotic duty to head to Lot Street in the very near future.
