Have you ever seen a truck trip on its dress, cry crocodile tears while triumphantly smirking at the losers, and thank God, the Academy and the 18-wheeler that birthed it? Other than that time Optimus Prime won for his performance in Steel Magnolias, probably not. While we can’t promise that it will happen, it could happen at the 2nd annual AwesTRUCK, Canada’s original food truck awards, which will be bringing you a meals-on-wheels experience that promises to be even bigger and better than last year. The awards celebrate Southern Ontario’s exploding food truck scene and the pioneers who have made it so great.
To be hosted on Saturday, September 21st between 2pm and 8pm at Garrison Common at the Historic Fort York in downtown T.O., the event is pushing to be the biggest food truck rally in the nation. In addition to the (literally) tonnes of food trucks present, there will also be local wines, brews and spirits plus some other surprises. The public (that means you, d’uh) will decide the winners on the Food Truck Eats Facebook page on Saturday, August 16th between 9am to midnight. Tickets are $10 for general admission or $25 for early bird (limit 250 available) which will get you into the event an hour early. (AKA no waiting in line for them treats, yo.)
