After quite the rough winter, and these lingering gloomy days, us 6ixers just can’t wait for those sunny days! Luckily the Honeycomb Hospitality team, which owns and operates Baro Toronto on King West, have been working on the perfect fix… Baro’s new Rooftop Patio.
A hot new tropical vibe rooftop!
As if Baro wasn’t already a true hotspot, especially after their addition of the exclusive speakeasy style bar, Escobar opened… now there’s yet one more reason to visit!
Lucky for us, we got a sneak preview and tasting last night and we can’t wait for it to open.
The Eats
A beautiful space is key, but we all know the food does take a roll in a great vibe.
As chef Steve Gonzalez clearly related at the preview, these are a variety of Latin classics with a fun modern twist. Authentic bbq, back home style, with a charcoal and wood burning grill. Bringing all those perfect flavours and scents to food. So bear with them, they’re not looking to cut any corners, so be patient. But we have no doubt they’ll have those Wings flying out in no time once they get into the groove of things.
Must haves: Chicken Wings, Grande Mac Empanada (unfortunately these were too good to even photograph), Broccoli and Dulce de Leche Flan… [insert drool emoji here]
The Drinks
Picture the drink’s you’d be served on the poolside or beach front in Miami, or anywhere tropical for that matter. That’s what you can expect at the Baro Rooftop Patio. I was hooked on their Coconut Mojito. Not your average mojito that’s for sure. Typically I don’t actually like those Coconut drinks as I am not a fan of Coconut water, but this was delish! Like a classic mojito, but with a refreshing twist.
Honestly though, they were all good! From the Drunk in Love (made with Watermelon and Mint), to the Tromba Margarita, why not try them all!* 😉
The Looks
I mean, who doesn’t love tropical Miami vibes right? Pair that lush greenery with a beautiful well lit space, with the perfect latin tunes, eats and drinks, and you got yourself a HOTSPOT! Literally…
The Miami Beach house, with some rustic Brooklyn like views of the old architecture foundry lofts that surround the area. Gorgeous right? Trust us, it is!
The Vibe inside Baro’s Rooftop Patio
It’s Lit. There’s no doubt in our mind that this place is going to be bumpin’, and much like Escobar and other Honeycomb hotspots in the city, hard to get into. Key is to have your crew rollup early!
Kudos to Matty and the rest of the Honeycomb Hospitality team on the new space, and we can’t wait to check out their new popup, Eye Candy set to open up at 322 Queen St West this weekend.
Get a chance to pop by the Rooftop once it open’s, don’t forget to tag us and use #TorontoVIBE for a chance to be featured on our Ig. 😉
