Everyone knows Wet ‘n’ Wild. I remember buying my first charcoal black eyeliner pencil from the brand in seventh grade, which resulted in what I now recall as the “raccoon eye” years. Makeup faux pas aside, Wet ‘n’ Wild has always commanded a certain amount of clout with the youthful crowd. For most things (and people – Botox notwithstanding), there comes a time to grow up. It appears the brand is making strides towards ‘adulthood’ with some products aimed at those who are post-pubescent.
This week, I stumbled upon Wet ‘n’ Wild’s new Mega Last Lip Colours. Considering matte lips are trendier than a bar on Ossington this season, you can’t go wrong with the ones offered by this budget brand for less than $3. I picked up two colours: Mauve Outta Here (970C) and Just Peachy (903C). As someone who is averse to bright lip colours, these two shades were the perfect way to get me out of my comfort zone. Plus, as much as I’m married to my signature plum lip, nothing beats a light pink or peachy shade in summer.
The Good
The colour glides on very easily, and doesn’t feel cakey or dense. The product is also compact, so it is easily transportable in a makeup bag. The colours are very well pigmented, so a little does go a long way. As denoted by the product’s namesake, these lip shades are made to last, and moisturizing ingredients – including vitamins A and E – ensure your pout won’t dry out.
The Bad
This is more of a personal gripe, but when I picked up the Mauve Outta Here shade, I expected a deeper shade of pink. So when I applied, I was a bit shocked to see that it looked like more of a bubblegum hue. Luckily, it can easily be downplayed by priming the lip with a liner in a darker shade.
