We recently had the chance to pop by Rosewood Hotel’s own Bel Café for a sampling of tea and treats (courtesy of both TWG teas and the cafes bakery), which more than satisfied our penchant for seasonal offerings.
Upon entering the bustling downtown cafe, we found ourselves cozily ensconced alongside various other like-minded writers with a hankering for the holidays. Holding court for the afternoon gathering (tea-pot in hand) was Director of Marketing and Events for The Urban Tea Merchant, Casey James who poured us a sampling of TWG’s Magic Christmas Tea served alongside an assortment of the café’s baked goods.

Pastry Chef, Wayne Kozinko paid us a visit as we noshed on an array of deliciously sweet treats such as their milk chocolate, hazelnut praline, poached pear Buche de Noel Yule log and classic Christmas cake.
To sweeten the deal, a Christmas tree-shaped mound of candy cane –flavoured macarons made a timely appearance.
After one too many cups (of tea, that is), we moved onto something slightly heavier – Bel Café’s eggnog latte (appropriately spiked with rum) before dipping into Kozinko’s special hazelnut linzer cookies made with raspberry preserves.

Perhaps the best part of the afternoon came when faced with a stacked plate of spiced whipped shortbread (available for quick gift-giving in a beautiful silver-flecked box).
Situated in the hub of YVR’s central business and shopping districts, Bel Café offers up the perfect holiday ‘pause.’ Conveniently located across from the Pacific Centre across from the Vancouver Art Gallery and more – it’s the perfect reprieve from a busy day of holiday shopping.
With full table service, (wine is served too!) plenty of artisan sandwiches, pastries, daily-made soups and other goods to-go, be sure to factor Bel Cafe it into your downtown to-do list this season.
