Holiday time is finally upon us, which means we’re gearing up for parties aplenty. And what better way to celebrate an office shindig or a gathering of friends long overdue than at an uber cool Toronto haunt? Here are a few of our fave spots in the city to get your private dining/drinking on…
Trinity Taverna
Brand new to the Toronto scene (it opened mid-July), Trinity Taverna is a taste of the Mediterranean right here in the city. Trust us when we say your mind will be blown upon digging into their Cretan dumplings or their uber-fresh fish. Trinity’s upstairs lounge is perfect to host a private event, whether it is a work-related holiday soiree or a December baby’s BDay.
Volos & Little Anthony’s
Two separate restaurants, two wholly unique experiences, and one similar tenet: perfection. Sister restaurants Little Anthony’s and Estiatorio Volos – occupying the SouthEast and SouthWest corners of York and Richmond, respectively – are similarly laid out as having a fantastic back section available for private bookings. With one, you’re getting the freshest of Italian fare, with the other, some of the best Greek food this side of Athens. With both, you’ll be undoubtedly satisfied.
Habits Gastropub
One of our fave li’l joints near College and Ossington, Habits Gastropub might as well be called Best Pub Food Joint Freaking Ever. (We’re assuming that didn’t fit on the business cards and hence why Habits was chosen as the resto/bar/live music venue’s moniker.) Aside from, well, the best freaking pub food ever that you’ll nosh on, Habits back space can be sectioned off via lush black curtains for a private party experience all your own.
Osteria dei Ganzi
With an updated menu and carefully curated cocktail list, Osteria dei Ganzi is worth a pop-by any night of the week. But for private functions, this place kills it thanks to an amazing second floor space that accommodate groups of most any size.
Victor
One of the sexiest hotel restobars in Toronto, Victor at Hotel le Germain has a stunning private dining room for groups of up to about 30. But, you can, in theory, rent the entire space as well as the library-stylized foyer near the entrance of the Mercer Street hotel.
Touro Churrascaria
One of the best experiences for meat lovers aside from dining at the end of a butcher’s block, Touro Churrascaria in Richmond Hill boasts a completely sound-proof private dining room as well as a larger semi-private side section for multiple group sizes. Go a la carte, or let the rodizio styled eats take you to the brink of meat sweats and back again. Seriously great eats in a charming space!
Cafe Boulud
Renowned Chef Daniel Boulud’s Toronto outpost of his Cafe Boulud brand of restaurants is, on our humble opinion, one of the most amazing restaurants in the city. Food? Perfection. Wine list? Cultivated as carefully as any set of vines. Private dining? A hidden room that seats 10, or a semi-private communal table for 14. Holiday dinners have never been so luxe!
House on Parliament
Another one of our fave hidden gems in the city, House on Parliament has a second floor that’s perfect for private functions. The best part about booking here is the selection of beers and whiskeys that’ll tempt your palates and loosen your inhibitions. Just remember to imbibe carefully if ringing in the holidays with your coworkers.
Mideastro Yorkville
Sitting pretty on Yorkville Avenue, Mideastro Yorkville will always hold a special place in our hearts. Perhaps it’s the refined Middle East-meets-Mediterranean cuisine. Perhaps it’s the rarity of the wines on Mideastro’s list. Or perhaps it’s the classic fine dining service. No matter, Mideastro’s private room is perfect for smaller, more intimate holiday celebrations… the kind we love in droves!
