As the weather warms, the sun returns, and the birds and the bees flutter through the air, we’re reminded of that beautiful/joyous/incredibly stressful time known as Wedding Season. For the bride and groom (and perhaps, more importantly, for their parents footing the bill), this means it’s time to start planning the wedding shower. As people who are forever the bridesmaids and never the bride, for us this means buying yet another slow cooker, pretending to be overcome with happiness, and drinking about three too many flutes of the mediocre champagne on offer. Bitter? Never!
We digress. Planning a wedding is one of the most stressful experiences of anybody’s life, so to help we’ve chosen the top venues to host the perfect wedding shower in Toronto and the GTA. From artsy to quaint to the traditional elegant setup, each venue offers a different experience that tailors to the wedding shower of your dreams. If you’re looking for delicious food and a memorable experience, then any one of these restaurants is just the ticket!
Located in the heart of Toronto’s historic Distillery District, Archeo is the perfect restaurant to host a trendy and beautiful wedding shower. From the cobblestone pathway to the tall brick wall buildings, and the random artwork scattered throughout not only the restaurant but the Distillery District as a whole, the location of Archeo exudes a tasteful European vibe for the ultimate celebration. Chic, loft-meets-Old-World décor is accented by dim lighting with candles, providing the perfect intimate setting, and it radiates romance, which is what marriage is all about, right? The décor including wooded panels and tables provide the restaurant with a contemporary yet 19th century aura. With an array of Italian-inspired dishes, no one will complain about the lack of flavour. Whether you take pictures inside or outside on Archeo’s gorgeous patio, it will definitely make for beautiful and artful memories.
Canyon Creek (Airport location)
Whether you are expecting lots of guests from out of town or not, Canyon Creek’s airport location is the best spot for you to have a perfect day before the big day. For food, Canyon Creek offers guests a refined and delicious party menu (including Lunch, Dinner, and Cocktail Party options) featuring their chophouse classics such as Roasted Hunter Chicken, Cedar Plank Salmon, and 12oz Prime Rib. Beyond even the mouth-watering bites, however, is the jaw-droppingly beautiful venue. Canyon Creek’s airport spot provides soon-to-be brides an elegant space with their beautiful Garden Room, which boasts a spectacular glass waterfall wall and incredible floor-to-ceiling windows in a beautiful rustic open space that allows for a plenty of room for a gift table and guests. Not only is this the perfect place to take some spectacular photos with your family and friends, it can also be rented out privately for the wedding itself and any future baby showers the bride and groom-to-be may also be throwing!
Located at Bloor Street West and Old Mill Road, the Old Mill is a quaint location that offers a lot of character – perfect for wedding showers. The exterior has luxurious cottagey décor allowing you to feel like you’re in London during the early 1900s. With a beautiful garden attached to the building, you’ll be able to enjoy taking photographs that will remind you of the stunning day you were celebrating getting married to your significant other. If you’re thinking of hosting your hurrah during the summer, there’s a great patio that’s surrounded by lovely flowers and breathtaking scenery. For those brave enough for a winter wedding, the interior provides a cabinesque atmosphere with brick walls and décor from the 1900s.
Located centrally near Toronto’s Financial and Theatre Districts, Rosewater offers an elegant dining experience for those who want to step it up a notch for their wedding shower.
