You are reading last year’s top Valentine’s Day picks but we have come up with a new list! For our 2015 picks read Top 25 Restaurant Picks For Valentine’s Day 2015 In Toronto.
Whether you’re in love, pretending to be in love, hope to be in love, or just want to get laid, Valentine’s Day is that annual occasion where you can allow your romantic side to roam free. As you have probably learned by now, the main difference between a great Valentine’s Day and an “I think we should just be friends” Valentine’s Day is always dependent on how well dinner goes. So, to help make sure all you Romeos have happy Juliettes (or Julios, as the case may be), we’ve made up this handy dandy list of the best Toronto restaurants for dinner on Valentine’s Day…
Kalendar
Voted NOW Magazine’s number one date restaurant in Toronto, it would be a crime against love not to include Kalendar on our Valentine’s Day list. Between the comforting food, the romantic ambiance, and delicious drinks, you’ll definitely be going home with somebody happy after this meal.
Panorama Restaurant
For views as breathtaking as the top of the CN Tower, you’d pay pretty much anything… right? Panorama will be serving a 3-course prix fixe menu for $150 a couple that promises to be something neither of you will soon forget.
Gusto 101
Gusto 101 will be serving their regular Italian-deliciousness a la carte menu for the evening which, honestly, is a refreshing change from all the Valentine’s Day prix fixes. What’s even better? They’ll be taking hourly reservations instead of just the usual options of only 12pm and 6pm.
Grasslands
Dating a vegetarian? Don’t worry, it’s not completely the end of the world. We kid! But seriously, Grasslands will be doing two veggie Valentine’s Day dinner seatings (6pm and 8:30pm) with 4-course and 5-course prix fixes, respectively.
Trio Ristorante and Pizzeria
Honestly, ever since seeing the The Lady and The Tramp, pretty much nothing seems more romantic to us than an authentic Italian dinner. Trio Ristorante and Pizzeria, nestled up and Yonge and Lawrence, is the cozy spot you’ll want on Valentine’s Day for wine, an intimate atmosphere, and food that truly exudes love because it’s made with love. That’s amoré!
Pan on the Danforth
Opa! If your lady has watched Mamma Mia five too many times and is dreaming of a Greek romance, Pan on the Danforth has the Valentine’s Day dinner for you. They’ll be doing a 3-course prix fixe featuring tons of Hellenic happiness for $35 per person.
Daisho – Momofuku
Momofuku’s Daisho at the Shangri-la Toronto will be hosting 4 and 5-course prix fixe options (for $65 and $95 per person, respectively) for Valentine’s Day. We say considering how good the menu looks and that you’ll probably want to impress your date, we’d go with the 5-course just to be safe.
Table 17
If you live in Leslieville, Table 17 is where you’re going to want to be on Valentine’s Day. Besides being close to home, the seasonal menu and European cooking techniques will make you seem oh-so-sophisticated for choosing to go here. Table 17 will be doing a $60 per person 3-course prix fixe.
Le Select
Leave it to the French to totally win at Valentine’s Day. For $55, you get the options of oysters, champagne, and a magnifique bistro 3-course prix fixe.
Lisbon By Night
Ignite some passion with a fiery Portuguese meal at Lisbon By Night. They’ll be offering up some savory specials (alongside their regular menu) for $35 a person with some surprise live entertainment!
Canoe
The flagship of the Oliver and Bonacini family, Canoe will be wining and dining Valentine’s Day lovers with a $150 per couple 4-course prix fixe, along with an optional $65 wine pairing. Dress to impress, gentlemen.
Splendido
If you really want to have a special evening, Splendido is where you should be. Our favourite Toronto staple of fine dining and seasonal cuisine will be serving an 8-course menu for $150 per person.
The Gladstone Hotel
While the 3-course prix fixe for $65 per person looks delicious, the best part about eating at the Gladstone Hotel is you can book a kinky room deal there for once dinner’s over. Just sayin’.
Cheesewerks
Romance may be ooey gooey but it ain’t got nothin’ on cheese! Cheesewerks will be hosting their 3rd Annual “I’m FOND of U” Dinner Experience, including a 4-course meal of salad, soup, fondue for two, and a dessert at $75 a couple. We may just go with a friend!
El Rancho
If you’re feeling some Latin loving, you’ll definitely want to check out El Rancho. For $45 per person, they’ll have dinner accompanied by a live mariachi serenade and dance lessons, followed by dancing all night long with Toronto’s top Latin DJs.
Rally Sports Bar + Smokehouse
Rally Smokehouse has made Valentine’s Day even easier by hosting dinner and a movie. They’ll be serving a special 3-course prix fixe along with showing a date movie in the backroom on the big screen. There’ll be two seatings (6:30pm and 9pm) and showtimes are 7pm and 9:30pm. Rally will be doing this both Friday the 14th and Saturday the 15th so you can make Valentine’s Day a weekend long affair!
Shoto – Momofuku
Don’t feel like going to Daisho? Go to Shoto instead! Chef Mitchell Bates and the Shoto team will be hosting a 12-course Valentine’s Day tasting menu that will give you ample opportunity to show off how cultured you are.
Bodega
Bodega will be serving a contemporary French prix fixe that will charm the pants/skirt/whatever off whomever you decide to bring. For $55 a person, you can choose from options like lobster bisque, grilled veal chop, and lobster risotto.
Crush Wine Bar
Impress your amour by bringing them to a Top Chef Canada alumni’s restaurant! Chef Trista Sheen will be serving a prix fixe menu made with French style and continental flare for $80 per person.
Osteria dei Ganzi
Housed in a romantic old Victorian mansion next to the Church-Wellesley Village, Osteria dei Ganzi will have an extremely reasonable 3-course prix fixe (including a glass of prosecco) for $40 per person, running February 13-16. That is some serious Valentine’s value, we’d say. Guests also have the option of ordering a la carte.
Earls’ King Street
Alongside their fabulous regular menu, Earls’ King Street will also be serving a special $36 prix fixe for Valentine’s Day including options like their famous steak (a Bourbon Mushroom 7oz Certified Angus Beef Top Sirloin, to be exact) along with favourites like Cajun Chicken and their seasonal salmon. They’ve also got some super reasonable bubbly deals going because how can you do V-Day without champagne, can we get an amen?
Jazz Bistro
Jazz Bistro literally has taken all of the work out of Valentine’s Day. The fabulous live-music hotspot will have a four-course meal designed by executive Chef Brad MacDonald, an evening of performances by John Alcorn (backed by an all-star jazz quartet), your choice of either two glasses of champagne or a half-litre of wine, and even flowers for your sweetie to take home. They’ve really thought of everything, eh?
