Think about your mother. She’s the most important woman in your life: she raised you, she changed your diapers, and she will love you forever. While you may not call her nearly enough, Mother’s Day is the perfect opportunity to show mama how much she means to you.
Mum might have always told you that breakfast was the most important meal of the day, but now that we’re all grown up we’re personally more partial to brunch. In honour of that, we’re helping to make it easy for you to take the original special lady in your life out to a Mother’s Day brunch that shows her just how much you love her. Here are our top Mother’s Day brunch restaurants in Toronto…
Jazz Bistro on Victoria Street is the perfect place to take mum for a brunch of live jazz music, delicious food, and amazing service. If you can’t make it to brunch, Jazz Bistro will also be doing an evening cabaret where owner and multi-talented musician Colin Hunter will be serenading the crowd. Fingers crossed the weather will be warm enough that they’ll have their amazing third floor patio open by then as well!
Want to treat mum to a brunch that’s a little bit different? We’ve got just the place! Take her for a delicious Italian brunch at Gusto 101 at Portland and King West. She can choose from a variety of dishes from the old country including some of the best pizze, Uova in Camicia (poached eggs on brioche, spinach, crispy prosciutto, sliced fontina, potatoes, spring greens), along with more North American fare like scrambled eggs and omelettes. If mum isn’t a morning person, Gusto 101 also serves all day, brunch through dinner.
Always dreamed of taking your hard-working mum on a European vacation? Well if you can’t make it this year, Le Gourmand is the perfect place to bring her for a Parisian-inspired brunch. Located at Queen and Spadina, Le Gourmand will make you feel as if you’re sitting in a cute patisserie in Paris. No airfare required.
Bodega on Baldwin
Voted one of Vogue‘s top restaurants in Canada, Bodega on Baldwin brings ta mere a brunch that is inspired by classic French influences. Dine on all things francais including terrine du foie gras, quiche du jour, and grilled calf’s liver. C’est parfait, non?
Table 17 in Leslieville is consistently a favourite among locals and mothers! They’ll be serving their regular a la carte brunch menu inspired by Europe but maintaining North American pizzazz, featuring such seasonal staples as Pain Doré, beet salad, and Neapolitan eggs. Also, $5 mimosas and Caesars. ‘Nuff said.
Pan on the Danforth
Our favourite Greek spot on the Danforth (a tall order, so you know it must be good), Pan on the Danforth has been serving authentic Hellenic cuisine to Torontonians for over 10 years. This Mediterranean institution will be serving a 3-course set menu lunch for Mother’s Day alongside their regular menu. Also, they will be serving a 3-course prix fixe dinner as well, also alongside their delicious a la carte menu.
Sassafraz is the perfect spot to spend a beautiful day in honour of your ma. Located in the heart of Yorkville, take a morning stroll through Toronto’s premiere posh neighbourhood before you hit up Sassafraz. Don’t forget to indulge in their famous ‘Cumberland’ breakie. We’re sure your mother will appreciate a day of luxury!

Joy Bistro on Queen East is perfect for those who enjoy a late brunch. This Leslieville staple has brunch specials on until 5pm so let your mom sleep in on Mother’s Day before you spoil her with a meal at the “Heart of the Neighbourhood.” Highlights include four different types of eggs benedict (Leslieville, Quebec, Norwegian, and Pomodoro) along with made-fresh-daily waffles.
A comfort staple on College Street, Kalendar will have mum filled with the best kind of love: delicious food. Serving a menu inspired by the most romantic locales of the world, fingers crossed the weather will permit their fantastic patio to be open!
On Mother’s Day this year, the Casa Loma will be hosting a fabulous Mother’s Day Brunch, which is perfect for the mom who likes to get cultured. After you’ve feasted on a delicious meal, stroll through the castle with your family and indulge in a little history. You really can’t go wrong, can you. Don’t forget that reservations are required, so go on and get booking!
What better way to spend Mother’s Day than at a cozy family-owned restaurant located on Queen East? Lady Marmalade is known for their delicious eggs bennies that take on a Mexican twist. If your mom is a celiac or has decided to go down the gluten-free road, Lady Marmalade offers an impressive menu to make sure she doesn’t leave brunch with an empty stomach!
If your mother is anything like ours, she’s totally addicted to Top Chef Canada and probably has a huge crush on Chef Mark McEwan. Take her to his Yorkville outpost, One Restaurant, for a top shelf brunch offering everything from a mouth-watering crab benedict to elevated takes on classics like steak and eggs.
One of our favourite spots on the Danforth, Combine Eatery is treating moms to a special Stuffed, Crusted French Toast this Mother’s Day. The special feature dish – available only on Sunday – sees housemade blueberry compote stuffed inside a massive wedge of fresh egg bread, battered, then deep fried to perfection and served alongside maple syrup and whipped cream. Now that’s how you show mom a little bit of the luxe life!
