As a part of Scarborough Town Centre’s February-long Black History Month activities, BlackOwnedTO is highlighting a ton of local businesses. The upcoming collaboration is giving visitors the opportunity to shop products from local Black vendors, as well as putting on an awards show to commemorate some of the city’s most important change-makers. It will all take place inside the largest regional shopping centre in the Eastern GTA, which is also one of the top-performing shopping centres in Canada.
About BlackOwnedTO’s pop-up
“BlackOwnedTO is one of the original businesses that we collaborated with to ensure that STC reflects our local community. Extending our relationship to host a dedicated market showcasing emerging entrepreneurs and recognizing their contributions will inspire others to do the same,” says Vianna Ko, Marketing Manager of Scarborough Town Centre.
BlackOwnedTO’s marketplace will take place this weekend, on Saturday, February 11 from 10 am-9 pm and Sunday, February 12, from 11:00 am-7:00 pm in the Centre Court, and will, according to a press release “provide the community with the opportunity to learn about past and future influential figures.” The awards celebrating the city’s changemakers will take place at noon on Saturday, February 11 in Centre Court, honouring Maame De Heer, the founder of Power of Love Foundation Canada and Coach Kamshuka, a war child survivor of the Ugandan civil war and a published author of three books.
