You might’ve read part 1 of my trip to Bahamas where my boyfriend and I stayed at the beautiful Royal Bahamian Sandals Resort, a truly wonderful escape to paradise. Part 2 of our vlog is more about the food served at this resort. We were very lucky, as when they heard we were coming, they made sure we ate like kings, which we did. But from start to finish the attention to detail that the Sandals team delivers is outstanding – I was quite blown away, especially given my very picky standards.
We had three butlers: Everett, Antonio and Dylan, all of which were amazing. One referred to me as “princess”, the other as “queen” and the other as “boss lady”. LOL – I got a chuckle every time I heard it. They were lovely guys. Everett did some research and discovered I loved lobster. As a result, I ate lobster everyday served in every which way you can imagine. I can’t believe I am admitting this but I was actually a little sick of lobster by the end! And I never say that…!
You might wonder how the butler service works; it’s simple, they give you a cell phone with only one phone number on it – the butler’s. Whenever you need something, dial him up and he is by your side whether you’re at the beach, pool or even on the private island. While this is amazing, it also made us totally uncomfortable therefore in our case they called us more than we called them! Funny enough, since returning, I have discovered that butler service on vacation is not that unusual and many people have experienced it. Was definitely a first for us but hopefully not the last and today I admit that butler service definitely made our vacation unlike any other experience.
One particular highlight of our trip was the private island… we took a 5-minute boat ride over to the exclusive Sandals private island and enjoyed the tranquility that a private island obviously brings. We went twice and both times were outstanding. On our first day, Everett brought a special order of lightly fried lobster, shrimp, conch (a local island shellfish) and grouper – you can check it out here:
The second time, the lovely Everett actually came to the private island himself to have the chef prepare lobster tail, BBQed Caribbean style. Oh my, that was tasty. And I must apologize – I was too shell shocked by this surprise to capture it all on video. You will have to take my word for it!
Overall, the resort is beautiful, clean and well maintained. The food is really great – especially for an all-inclusive place – and the service was impeccable and people very friendly. We actually made friends with our butlers and some of the chefs and have since kept in touch – thank you Facebook. However, since we were upgraded, I wanted to make sure I spoke to other vacationers to see what the overall consensus was. Not surprisingly most everyone was happy and in pure bliss. Food consensus was also great, though everyone had their own particular favourite – a big one was the King Crab legs served at The Crystal Room. Fresh and delicious, this was a huge hit – you can see us digging into these in this vlog.
If you read part 1, you know that I am not an “all-inclusive” vacationer – I like to explore and live like a native when I vacation somewhere. However I can’t deny that Sandals makes it really hard not to love it. Walking around a gorgeous resort with a private beach, a ton of bars and restaurants, fire pits and loungers throughout, all without having to worry about money or credit cards is a really comfortable and convenient way to travel.
A huge thank you has to go to all the amazing people that make up the team at the Royal Bahamian Sandals Resort. We were made to feel like kings and queens and I will never forget this beautiful vacation and all the people that made it happen.
