One of the top reasons to be excited about the spring and summer is of course, the patio season in Toronto. After all, what better way to soak in warm days than having a lovely meal outside? Which is why the news of CaféTO returning is a welcoming one. The program for this year has been officially initiated, with the opening of the first participating patio.

CaféTO In Toronto For Patio Season
The city has also implemented some changes to the existing initiative. One notable change is that of the City’s Amplified Live Music on Patios program. It will now be available in eight city wards as opposed to four, as it was previously. So you’ll be able to catch live music at wards like Beaches-East York, Parkdale-High Park, Spadina-Fort York and others.
Another new addition is the CaféTO Property Improvement Program. This provides businesses with matching funding of 50% of the total cost for specific improvements to a café space that sits on private property. It goes for accessibility improvements and other ones like decking or fencing.

The CaféTO program was inaugurated in 2020 as a way to support restaurant and bars during the pandemic for outdoor dining. This includes the implementation of sidewalk and curb lane cafés. For this year, more than 800 such cafés are set to be installed during May.
