If you’re suffering from fashion week withdrawal, forget waiting for September to get your front row fashionista fix. Canada Philippine Fashion Week kicks off today, right here in Toronto, and runs until June 15th. Noticing a lot of gorgeously dressed ladies and gents around town off-setting the lazy summer hipster beat? Now you know why.
One of the major CPFW events we’re most excited about is the world premiere screening of the documentary film Jose Rizal – The First Hero. The cast and crew of the film will be at TIFF Bell Lightbox on June 12th for “An Evening with Jose Rizal,” which will feature a Q&A session as well as a Rizalian-inspired fashion show by the film’s fashion designer, John Albaza. This coincides with Philippine Independence Day (of course, you already knew that, right?), so there’s no better way to celebrate.
We’re also psyched for Friday’s CPFW Gala Premiere: Philippine Fashion’s Biggest Night at Roy Thomson Hall. Read more about it here.
Designers attending PLDT Canada Philippine Fashion Week are: Amina Aranaz (Manila), Brian Maristela (Toronto), Francis Libiran (Manila), John Ablaza (Manila), Noel Crisostomo (Manila), Norman Noriega (Manila), Jon De Porter (Montreal), Leonard Co (Manila), and Roland Alzate (Manila).
Why not discover a new designer, and when someone asks you what you’re wearing at New York Fashion Week this fall, you’ll be able to say, “Oh this? This is by Noel Crisostomo, obviously.”
