The News, Documentary & Factual Awards were held at Meridian Hall on Tuesday, April 11, and brought some of the most important names in media together to celebrate. The ceremony kicked off Canadian Screen Week 2023, and presenters on the first official day included Tom Power, Ngardy Conteh George, Dawna Friesen, Nathan Downer, and Tiffany Hsiung, with the event hosted by Asha Tomlinson. While Pierre Bruneau was given the Lifetime Achievement Award, Lisa LaFlamme received the Gordon Sinclair Award for Broadcast Journalism.
Following The News, Documentary & Factual Awards, the Canadian Screen Awards continue with The Children’s & Animation Awards, The Lifestyle & Reality Awards, and The Digital & Immersive Awards, among other ceremonies. Each has a different sponsor, from CTV to Telefilm Canada. Canadian Screen Week 2023 runs every day until the final ceremony, the Canadian Screen Awards, is held on April 16th.
