Canadian cinema and television continue to grow and receive more attention every year. To celebrate the best in Canadian film, television and digital media the Canadian Academy hosts Canadian Screen Week. There will be four days of in-person award shows at Meridian Hall with some of your favourite Canadian stars making an appearance. Keep reading to find out more about who you can expect to see at the in-person award shows.
About Canadian Screen Week 2023
The awards will be hosted by famous Canadians, like Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Mary Berg, Emma Hunter, Nigel Downer and many more. The presenters for the awards are also from Canadian works and include Bilal Baig, members of the cast from The Porter, members of TallBoyz, and more.
But, that’s not all! On April 16 you can watch The Canadian Screen Awards with Samantha Bee at 8 pm. Samantha Bee is hosting the special with a writing team that includes Jason Jones, former Daily Show correspondent, and Scott Vrooman, former staff writer on Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj. This broadcast special will highlight some of the best moments in Canadian television and film from 2022 and will feature exclusive celebrity interviews. You can catch celebrity interviews with the Special Award recipients including Ryan Reynolds, Catherine O’Hara, and Tracy Moore. The winner of the Cogeco Fund Audience Choice Award will also be revealed during the special.
