It might not look, feel or seem like it, but we’re almost a week away from the summer solstice… you know, the longest day of sunlight in the entire year? If you’re as frustrated as we are that your Canada Goose coat is still hanging on your rack, then consider joining us next week on the solstice in the Distillery District for the inaugural Om T.O. – a full day of free outdoor yoga classes at 55 Mill Street. Hey, if it takes getting down on our hands and knees in a downward dog plea for sunshine to get Mother Nature to literally lighten up, we’re gonna do it.
Instructors from all over the city from studios like Downward Dog Yoga Centre, Bikram Yoga Centre and Wellness Clinic and Moksha Yoga North York will be at Om T.O. to help us amateurs get our zen on, though there will even be free classes available for expert level yoga enthusiasts. The classes are 40 minutes each and go all day from 10am to 6pm, so you can catch the morning rays or make a day of it. And if you don’t have a mat, don’t sweat it. Lululemon is renting them out on site. Profits and donations go to Colon Cancer Canada, and there are even group packages available for businesses and groups of friends who wish to make a pledge and enjoy a yoga field trip in the name of colon cancer.
We’re secretly psyched to shop for some new killer yoga pants that look just as good at the grocery store as they do at a moksha class. Studio 2 Yoga, Eve’s Leaves, Rosedale Wellness Centre, Yogaga and MWL Jewelry will all be on site selling yoga related goodies.
If half the city comes out, maybe the sun will finally decide to join us this summer. We’ll see you there!
