This Summer, Toronto will be full of celebrities on location for films and television shows. Vv Magazine’s Lisa Lagace rounds-up the famous faces you’re mostly likely to see in the city this season.
Summer is here, and the warm weather makes the city an ideal locale for productions to shoot in. Add a weak Canadian dollar to that and Toronto makes for a booming film and television industry.

So what does this mean for you? More opportunities to see celebs you wouldn’t otherwise see while hanging out at Fring’s or Momofuku.
If you’re desperate for a star spotting before TIFF returns, here are the recognizable faces you’ll have a greater chance of running into in the city over the next few months:
Anon
Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried star in this futuristic film where privacy and anonymity are no longer available to anyone – shooting until August 26th.
Downsizing
With another couple weeks of shooting to complete on the new Alexander Payne film, you have a chance to spot Matt Damon in the city, along with co-stars Kristin Wiig, Alec Baldwin, Christoph Waltz, Jason Sudeikis and Neil Patrick Harris in this social satire about a man shrinking himself.

Flatliners
Ellen Page and Diego Luna will be in the city to shoot Flatliners – the new film about medical students experimenting with near death experiences – shooting from July 11th until September 1st.
The Shape Of Water
Gullermo Del Toro’s latest film stars Michael Shannon and Octavia Spencer in this Cold War era American tale, shooting from August 15th until October 20th.
American Gods
Based on the Neil Gaiman novel, the new TV series starring Emily Browning and Sean Harris is shooting now until September 30th.
American Gothic
Shooting until October 8th, this TV series stars Megan Ketch and Justin Chatwin, focusing on a Boston family reeling after the discovery that one of their own is tied to a series of murders.
Designated Survivor
Kiefer Sutherland stars in this new series about a cabinet minister thrust into the role of president after a deadly attack. It shoots in Toronto until October 21st.

The Expanse
Season 2 of the popular SyFy series shoots in Toronto until September 12th, starring Thomas Jane, Steven Straight and Cas Anvar.
Incorporated
Shooting until August 30th and produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, this futuristic series stars Julia Ormond and Sean Teale, as a man who attempts to stop a corporation that has come into unlimited power.
Reign
Season 4 of the fantasy drama shoots in the city until November 11th, starring Adelaide Kane, Megan Follows, and Torrance Coombs.

Suits
Season 6 of the beloved lawyer drama films in Toronto until November 16th, so take this as your opportunity to catch a sighting of Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, Meghan Markle and co.
Taken
As film franchises continue being turned into TV series en masse, Taken joins the growing list with this series revamp, shooting in the city until October 31st and starring Clive Standen.
