Cronut inventor Dominique Ansel is setting fire to his current status as the reigning king of the dessert world… quite literally. He’s already moved on to his next invention, and this time he’s tackling the campfire classic: s’mores. That’s right. Ansel debuted his latest dessert craze, the frozen s’more, on July 12th and, as expected, it sold out in just a matter of minutes. Hey, these days, his cronuts go for $40 a pop on the deep-fried black market, so Ansel’s creations are definitely in high demand. The Ansel twist on the old school favourite? His s’more has an ice-cream center that’s coated with chocolate flakes and a layer of marshmallow and, once frozen, he lights it with a blow torch to give it a brûlée finish. He then serves the frozen s’more on a stick of willow wood that’s been applewood smoked so that it smells like a campfire. How’s that for bringing the beachside bonfire right into the heart of New York City?
Since the frozen s’mores are, well, frozen, they’re almost impossible to bring to the dessert black market, so getting your hands on one is even more difficult and therefore necessary. Roadtrip to New York, anyone?
