Every time I do my nails I wish that I were ambidextrous because then my right hand would look less like it was done while I was three quarters of the way through a bottle of red wine. Alas, I am right-handed and as a result I usually end up with one hand that looks pristine and one that looks like a Jackson Pollock painting. When a special occasion, like Valentine’s Day, comes around I spend a couple hours on Pinterest searching for beautiful nail art; inevitably I leave the art to the ladies of Pinterest to save myself from becoming a Pinterest fail of epic proportions.
So how do you get gorgeous nails without the hassle of actually having to paint your own nails or flip over the price of a salon?
Hex
Hex has a whole line of nail jewelry. This LA-based company, created by sisters Brenda and Melissa Ahamad, has everything from gold plated brass nail shields to gun and cowboy boot reusable nail charms. Their Valentine’s Day line is adorable and provides a simple solution to your Pinterest envy.
Revlon By Marchesa 3D Nail Appliques
The Revlon line is a little less heavy handed with the theme of Valentine’s Day, if you want a design that is romantic but will last past February 14th. I highly recommend their easy-to-use nail art. For me the romance of the Royal Burgundy design is clear – this is the kind of nail art that Marie Antoinette would have sported if that had been a thing back then. But if you’re looking for something with a little bit more VDay flavoured, check out the Evening Garnet which is gorgeous and has a beautiful pink base shade.
Avon Nail Art Design Strips
At some point in time Avon stopped being your mother’s company and got cool again. No longer the door-to-door business of your childhood, Avon allows customers to purchase online easily; just register and start shopping. I’m in love with their nail designs but for Valentine’s Day I’m digging the sexy Red Hot Lace and the sweet Hot Pink Bling. While the naming convention isn’t the most creative, the nail art sticks on easily and stays for about a week and a half; which is about the point where I get bored and start trying to peel them off anyhow.
