On March 28th the Dare To Wear Love Gala (DTWL), hosted by Chris Tyrell and Jim Searle’s (founders of DTWL and Hoax Couture, as well as the driving force behind the gala), celebrated its fifth anniversary at Toronto’s swanky Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Filled with stylish fashion moguls who enjoyed a soulful performance by Canadian singer Divine Brown and an empowering speech by D’Bi Young, the DTWL Gala proved to be an incredible and chic success (we didn’t expect anything less than perfection).
All proceeds from the DTWL Gala were raised in support of The Stephen Lewis Foundation, which specializes in helping orphans suffering from HIV/AIDS in Africa. Since the gala’s inception five years ago, the event has raised over a whopping $275,000 for The Stephen Lewis Foundation.
Toronto’s favourite A-Listers strutted their incredible outfits on the runway, designed by a fantastic array of talented Canadian designers including Comrags, David Dixon, Greta Constantine, HD Homme and many more. The show concluded in a fantastic one-of-a-kind creation constructed from six yards of African fabric. The gala was graced with amazing fashionistas (and fashionistos) including Jeanne Beker, Suzanne Rogers, Robin Kay and Glen Dixon who watched their famous friends walk the runway, like Kristine Stewart (head of Twitter Canada), and actor Zaib Shaikh.
Cheers to Chris Tyrell and Jim Searle for yet another successful gala. Fashion and charity, you really can’t go wrong!
Don’t forget to check out all the chic images from the party and the runway, of course.
