A man who needs an alter-ego to fully express himself and asks his wife to marry him with a designer chair instead of an engagement ring (true story) is well deserving of a full retrospective dedicated to his awesomeness. We couldn’t be more thrilled that “David Bowie is,” the exhibit on the glam rocker that has got everyone in London currently re-investing in pleather bodysuits and glitter face makeup, is coming to Toronto this fall.
“David Bowie is” will find its next home at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) right after its successful stint at the Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum in London, England. The exhibit features some of Bowie’s coolest fashions from the last 50 years (how could anyone actually narrow it down?) including some of his Ziggy Stardust designed bodysuits by Freddie Burretti, as well as art, film, photos, and, of course, music. “David Bowie is” opens on September 25th, 2013, and runs to November 27th, 2013. Toronto is the exhibit’s first stop on its world tour. How rock n’ roll is that?
