It’s no secret that people work hard in Washington, D.C. It’s our nation’s capital after all, and so the people helping make the country run are there hard at work. It’s a working man’s city, but that doesn’t mean the residents don’t know how to have fun.
If anything, it means that D.C. knows how to kick back and party better than almost anywhere else. The D.C. nightlife scene can actually be quite exciting, and there’s a lot of different places you can go to and get your party on.
If you’re looking for the best place to grab a drink or go dancing, read on. We’ll walk you through how to have an amazing time going out in D.C.
Head to a Bar
Many of those busy D.C. workers need a drink to help them unwind after a long day, which is why you’ll find so many amazing bars (and happy hours!) spread out over the city limits.
If you really want to ensure you find a great bar, it can be a good idea to head to one of the city’s more happening neighborhoods: Adams Morgan, H Street, Georgetown, or Dupont Circle, to name a few. There are usually big concentrations of bars in these areas, and you might even be able to ping around from location to location over the course of a night. That helps to keep things interesting.
If you want to find something more lively or closer to work, it’s easy to find a sports bar downtown DC to enjoy a drink and the company of others. In fact, there are so many great places to drink in D.C. that you really should narrow down what you’re looking for ahead of time.
Party on a Rooftop
If there’s one thing that can add a thrill to a night, it’s a partying a hundred feet above ground level. Luckily, there are a number of rooftop clubs and bars that are worth being a patron at.
The POV at the W is likely one of the most popular bars and restaurants in the city, mostly thanks to the impressive city views it boats on all sides. This is one of the most well-to-do spots in town, so it can be a great choice for a big night out. Just make sure you adhere to their very strict dress code!
For something more casual but just as fun, it might be worth it to head to El Techo near Howard University for some casual cocktails at high altitudes.
Enjoy Live Music
While D.C. might not be New York or Nashville, that doesn’t mean there’s not a wealth of exciting live music to experience in the D.C. nightlife.
D.C. actually is home to the longest-running jazz bar in the whole nation, Blues Alley. If you want to catch some of the most impressive jazz musicians and bands currently working while enjoying a drink, this place is a must-stop.
There are a number of big rock clubs over town too which bring in artists as big as The Foo Fighters or Arcade Fire.
Enjoying The D.C. Nightlife
If you’re staying in the nation’s capital and looking for a good time, you’re in luck: D.C. nightlife has quite a bit to offer. The above are just a few select choices.
