Getting a hold of compact furniture pieces just got a whole lot easier, folks. Swedish furniture chain, IKEA, is opening up a branch in downtown Toronto at long last. Considering that we’d usually have to head to the other locations that are on the way further side of the city, this is a welcome move. It’s situated at Yonge and Gerrard, setting up shop in the Aura Shopping Centre.

It’s worth noting that the size won’t be as expansive as the other GTA locations. The podium store features 66,000 square feet and makes use of two floors. This is also the first IKEA location in Canada to be designed in a small-store format, although the chain’s already been experimenting with the style in other international cities recently.
But don’t let the small size fool you. More than 2,000 products will be available on-site that you can buy immediately, while orders for larger products can be placed for delivery. You can also download the IKEA app to take advantage of the scan-and-pay experience.
We are thrilled to announce that the wait is nearly over – IKEA Toronto Downtown – Aura will open its doors on May 25th! This new IKEA experience will bring affordable and inspiring solutions closer to home for Torontonians. https://t.co/zAqLMr8oR3#IKEA #IKEACanada #Toronto pic.twitter.com/nlTkejmiu2

And what’s a trip to IKEA without the famed meatballs, right? Not just that, but the downtown location additionally has a new concept, Swedish Deli. You can expect pizza and hot dogs, along with baked goods like muffins. Vegetarian options are available too, in the form of potato salads, veggie balls and chickpeas.
The grand opening is taking place tomorrow on May 25, starting at 9am.
